Avera is a health ministry rooted in the Gospel.  Our mission is to make a positive impact in the lives and health of persons and communities by providing quality services guided by Christian values.  Avera has opportunities for volunteering through Avera Sacred Heart Hospital, Avera Majestic Bluffs, and Avera @Home Hospice Program.  We would like to invite you to join us in the commitment to consistently deliver an excellent experience to every person at every encounter.  This is “The Avera Way.”

Ways to be involved with Avera Yankton Volunteers:

Avera Majestic Bluffs includes Adult Day Services, Assisted Living, and Long Term Care Center.  Activities are an important part of the quality of living provided at Majestic Bluffs.  The residents enjoy games, entertainment, art, music, baking, outings, exercise, worship, and special events.  With all of these activities comes the need for help.  Volunteers play a vital role in developing relationships that enhance the lives of our residents.

The Avera@Home Hospice program provides care for patients dealing with a terminal illness.  Volunteers are an important part of the team, providing respite for caregivers, making sure that patients aren’t alone, and helping with little tasks that mean so much to the patient and their family. 

At Avera Sacred Heart, volunteers give directions, make deliveries, transport equipment, and escort people to their destination.
